General aviation
is being threatened by public pressure, onerous secur ity measures, and
the possibility of user fees. It’s time we take a united stand to
inform policymakers, the media, and the public of the value of GA. They
need to understand that it is vital to keeping America strong.
Today, AOPA is
launching an all-out campaign, General
Aviation Serves America, to spread the news that this is an
industry that helps save lives, brings business to smaller communities,
and transports goods and services to areas inaccessible by other modes
of transportation.
“It’s time for
us to let policymakers, opinion leaders, and the American public know
who we are and what we do,” said AOPA President Craig Fuller.
This campaign,
which depends on the participation of each and every pilot, aircraft
owner, and AOPA member, is designed to improve the perception of GA,
correct misconceptions, and battle threats such as user fees, tax
increases, and onerous security regulations.
Everyday pilots
are sharing their stories alongside famous actors who also depend on
GA. Check out these two commercials that will be airing in key
locations across the country.
These ads will
initially appear in the Washington, D.C., area and online, while print
ads will be running in various publications and appearing at select
airports. We’ve also just launched a Web site, www.GAServesAmerica.com,
to prominently feature all that GA does.
But that’s not
enough. We need your continued support to expand and sustain this
important initiative beyond Washington, D.C. Please share this e-mail
and the GA
Serves America Web site with your friends. Take a stand, and let
them know the importance of GA!
